Complete Physicals

We conduct complete wellness examinations for any of our patients. Most complete exams include things such as blood pressure and pulse checks, an examination of the eyes, ears nose and throat, a check of respiratory and cardiovascular functions, as well as a review of joints including the spine, and lymphatic system. We also conduct annual exams for female patients including Pap tests, pelvic and breast exams. We recommend an annual exam including blood tests as a preventative measure. Whether you are young or aging, healthy or dealing with multiple medical issues, an annual exam helps to keep your health concerns under control.

Acute care for illnesses/injuries

Our providers can treat a number of acute illnesses or injuries. We have same day appointments available for the acute needs of our patients. Examples of an acute illness include urinary tract infections, sore throats, cough, colds and flu. While these appointments are shorter than regular appointments we want to be here for our patients when they aren’t feeling well. Give us a call or come into the clinic and we will help you correctly identify symptoms and receive the correct treatment.

During a complete physical or if certain symptoms present themselves, we may perform an electrocardiogram or EKG on a patient. This test checks for problems with the electrical activity of your heart. Complaints such as dizziness, chest pain or pressure, or shortness of breath may be evaluated with an EKG. EKGs are also used in some cases to ensure a patient is healthy enough for surgery or other procedures. We can also monitor implanted medical devices in the heart and the effect certain medicines may be having. If you have certain conditions such as high cholesterol or blood pressure, smoke or have a family history of diabetes or early heart disease, EKG testing can check heart health and prevent many problems before they start.

Northrup & Associates can provide many types of vaccinations as well as help you evaluate what vaccinations are necessary to travel internationally. Vaccinations stimulate the production of antibodies to fight off a number of diseases. While flu shots are the most common, vaccines for shingles, pneumonia and other diseases are often recommended.   Please contact our office for an appointment if you wish to review your vaccine history.

Northrup & Associates has an in-house lab where we draw blood work. Tests, which include (but aren’t limited to) complete blood counts check for anemia, monitor medications, and check electrolytes in patients suffering from malnutrition and other issues. Blood tests can provide information on how many of your internal organs are functioning.   Having an in-house lab ensures our patients get their results back quickly, so we may treat any problem and patients can resume their daily routines. At the first sign of illness it is essential to contact your primary care physician to determine if any blood or lab work should be conducted.
